Description

Issues of divorce and remarriage often beset pastors who try to remain faithful to God's Word and yet are not always sure how to apply scriptural principles to the messy situations of people's lives. This class will examine divorce and remarriage, bringing the insights of biblical exegetes, the Reformers, and Lutheran Orthodoxy into conversation with contemporary situations. Topics include: What is marriage? What is divorce? Fornication and malicious desertion. The difficult issues: How far should "desertion" be stretched? Remarriage. Implementation in the LCMS.
