We as a district pledge to financially support the building of one and one half orphanages through Project 24 in Kenya, working together with the Minnesota North District. Together we will be supporting 3 orphanages.

Mary Okeyo Scholarship Fund
{This is the Resolution that was passed at the 2012 District Convention. Look for more information in the future.}
Whereas District laymen and officials visited the Project 24 rescue centers in Kenya and were impressed with the care and teaching of the young people in the centers; and,
Whereas It was determined that these centers would be a valuable teaching and learning tools for our own young adults and pastors as they interact with children, evangelists and deaconesses from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK); and,
Whereas A generous gift has been received to start the Mary Okeyo Scholarship Fund to pay for transportation to and from Kenya; and,
Whereas The understanding and passion for mission and mercy work can enhance involvement in the life of the church as well as an appreciation for vocational ministry; therefore, be it
Resolved That the District President and his staff will work in cooperation with Project 24 in the selection, preparation and sending of these young adults so that it will facilitate a learning experience in mercy-based ministry, catechesis (i.e. instruction in the Lutheran faith) and service in whatever way can be useful to the ELCK; and, be it finally
Resolved That congregations be encouraged to contribute to this scholarship fund and support this program with prayer.
